The Honorable Pedro Sánchez

Subject: Request for Transparent Dialogue Regarding Spain’s Role in the United States Tobacco Trade

Your Majesty King Felipe VI,
President Sánchez,

My name is Killian Yates, an American citizen with a deep commitment to public health, commercial transparency, and international accountability in cross-border trade practices. I am reaching out directly to your highest offices to request a transparent and open dialogue concerning Spain’s historical and ongoing relationship with the global tobacco trade, particularly as it relates to commercial influence, ownership, and operational partnerships within the United States.

It has come to my attention through various trade records, corporate holdings, and secondary sources that Spanish entities—either state-affiliated or registered within your jurisdiction—may play a larger role in the international tobacco product supply chain than the general public is currently aware of. Given the devastating health impact of tobacco-related products, and the regulatory challenges we face here in the United States around marketing, labeling, harm reduction, and synthetic alternatives, I believe the time is right for a candid examination of your nation’s role—past and present.

This letter is not an accusation but rather a good-faith invitation to transparency. The world is shifting toward models of governance that demand clarity and ethical responsibility across borders. In that spirit, I am asking for any of the following:

  1. A formal response or public statement outlining Spain’s current or historical relationship with the U.S. tobacco trade.
  2. A list of Spanish corporate entities with direct or indirect ownership stakes in American tobacco, nicotine, or vaping product companies.
  3. Any available documentation or white papers your offices are willing to share regarding policy, taxation, or public health considerations related to Spain’s international tobacco commerce.

This letter will be published on my public archive to ensure full transparency on my end, and any response you provide will be documented respectfully and accurately. My goal is to better inform both American and international citizens about the structures that guide powerful global industries and ensure public interest is not sidelined by opaque legacy partnerships.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Killian Yates

Atentamente,
Killian Yates
